Mood Swings

  • Two weeks of persistently low or irritable mood with several of the following:

    • Changes in sleep

    • Appetite

    • Interest in typical activities

    • Guilt

    • Low Energy

    • Poor Concentration

  • A manic episode is involves seven consecutive days of extremely elevated energy and mood, overconfidence, recklessness, hypersexuality, increased spending. It generally impairs functioning and comes with significant consequences as one behaves in a way different from their usual personality.

  • A hypomanic episode is less severe than a manic episode. It lasts at least 4 days. Symptoms can include low need for sleep, elevated energy and mood, overconfidence, recklessness, hypersexuality, increased spending.



  • Chronic symptoms of low grade depression which occur more days than not over 2 years.

  • A longstanding pattern with a hallmark feature of abandonment sensitivity. This results in intense mood swings with impulsive or reckless behavior to harm self or bribe/threaten others into avoiding perceived abandonment.
